Once a year AZGroups puts on a really big free event featuring in-depth technical content from top-notch industry experts. This year we’re featuring two speakers you usually only get to see during keynotes at major conferences. This world-class event is being held in the pristine Orpheum Theatre on Wednesday, September 6th.
Here's some details about our featured guests:

Eric Sink has an amazing amount of experience in the industry, having been the driving force behind the development of the first version of Internet Explorer. Nine years ago he founded SourceGear, which offers leading products for source control. A programmer at heart, in his spare time he writes code, and is currently creating an application to design woodworking projects. His Apress book “Eric Sink on the Business of Software” is an often-recommended guide for anyone selling software for a living.
His presentation will include:
- "Really Great Mistakes Made by Well-Intentioned and Otherwise Clueful People While Trying to Use Version Control"
- "Remarkable Blunders Executed by Otherwise Intelligent Software Marketing People Who Really Do Mean Well but Somehow Keep Fouling Everything Up by Repeating the Same Mistakes Over and Over"

For each person in attendance who has RSVP'd above, we have now obtained enough sponsorship to be able to offer a free boxed lunch! This is much better than unleashing a thousand people at once in one corner of downtown Phoenix. (The lines at the hot dog vendor who regularly hangs out across the street from the Orpheum would be atrocious!) So we're very pleased that this has come together for us.
The venue will be the Orpheum theater, which is a work of art in and of itself. This ornate building is the only theater in Phoenix to be listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1929 in a Spanish Baroque Revival style, it was completely restored in 1997 and is one of the top venues in the Southwest.
We'd like to kindly thank our sponsors who have made this event possible:
Need more reason to come out and join us? There are good prizes to be had! One Zen Sleek Photo 20 gig media player will be given out. This excellent gadget is capable of playing back video! Pretty slick. Also a ton of books, shirts and other goods. Be sure to attend.

Someone in attendance will win this media player! |
For those coming in from further away, decent hotel rooms in Phoenix are going for only $60 a night, and you can usually get a cheap flight from America West or Southwest, so register now and join us for this full day of world-class instruction.
We look forward to having you in attendance with us on September 6th. Registration begins at 7:00AM. The final speaker will finish at 4:30pm. Expect to pay $7 for parking if you drive to the event.
Important note about registering on this site: If you try to request your password via email and provide an email address that is not in our system, it will merrily reply saying "You have requested that a new password be generated and sent to your email address ____. Please allow up to 15 minutes for this to take effect." This is total bunk. In order to mask who is a member and who is not, it gives this same response for any request. So basically if you never do receive your password in email that means you're not registered here, and you will need to sign up.
Another important note about registering: If you are one of over 1000 people who regularly receive email with [AZGroups] in the subject line, this is coming from the Yahoo! Groups email list. It does NOT mean that you have an account on this site! Yahoo maintains their membership information completely independent of us. So you will need to create a new account on this site to RSVP and participate in the forums here.
Additional advertising we're using for the event includes a printed postcard:
